Dr. Majid Ghayour Mobarhan

Majid Ghayour Mobarhan is presently a Consultant of Clinical Nutrition, Ghaem Hospital, Mashhad University of Medical Sciences (MUMS), Mashhad, Iran.

He graduated from the Medical school, Mashhad University of Medical Sciences (MUMS) in 1997. In 2001 he enrolled in a part time MSc in Nutritional Medicine, University of Surrey, UK for which he was awarded a full scholarship from the Iranian government. Simultaneously he started a PhD in Clinical Nutrition, University of Surrey, UK. From 2001 to 2004, he was a Research Fellow in Molecular and Metabolic Medicine at the Surrey County Hospital, Guildford.

In 2004, he joined MUMS as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Nutrition and in 2005, was appointed a Consultant of Clinical Nutrition, Ghaem Hospital, MUMS, Mashhad.  From 2005-2008 he was Head of Avicenna (Bu-Ali) Research Institute, MUMS, Mashhad. In 2008, he established the department of New Sciences and Technologies.  He was appointed senior lecturer at Nancy University, France in 2010, and was Head of Iranian Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research Razavi Khorasan Branch and Center for Research (ACECR), from 2011 to 2013. He is also a founding member of Biochemistry of Nutrition Research Center, and Cardiovascular Research center, School of Medicine, MUMS, Iran.

During his career, he has received several awards and travel fellowships; at medical school he received awards for highest grade and the best scientific and ethical student. In 2003 he gained the best student presentation prize at the Nutrition Society meeting in Glasgow, Scotland, UK. Was awarded travel fellowships to attend the 74th European Atherosclerosis Society (EAS) Congress (2004) and the 10th International Congress on Obesity in Sydney, Australia (2006). During 2007-2015, he got the prize of the top researcher of MUMS. Also in 2008 and 2010 his projects were selected as the best in Khoransan Province.

He has published 15 books, and more than 200 publications His book titled ‘’Effects of Nutrition and Cardiovascular risk on pathogenesis of Atherosclerosis’’ was selected as the best books of Iran in 2008.
